Can I provide Newspaper articles to my students?

In general you may communicate and reproduce, in paper or electronic form, a short excerpt of a newspaper to your students. With regards to newspaper articles a short excerpt means either an entire newspaper article or page of a newspaper (whichever suits your purpose better).
However, please keep in mind that most people are not using print newspapers all that much anymore. Therefore you'll have to take into consideration where you obtained the article as this impacts what you are able to do with it.
If the article is publicly available online and there is no clearly visible notice prohibiting educational use you are free to copy, display, incorporate into lessons/exams, and upload onto Blackboard the article so long as it is no more than one article per issue.
If however you want to use an article you obtain from a database you will be restricted to the license agreement between George Brown and the publisher OR if you have a subscription with a newspaper you will be restricted to the agreement between you and the publisher.
