Do I need to obtain permission to use copyright material in my course packs?

Answer

The Grenville Copy Centre is the main provider of print coursepacks at George Brown College and will obtain permission for you (however for economial and environmental reasons, may we suggest you check with the library  databases/catalogue before you finalize your coursepack materials).

Any materials that you would like to include in courseware are assessed by the Grenville staff for copyright clearance requirements. This includes materials from the internet, government publications, and unpublished works, not just books and journals. Providing details such as book/journal title, web address, author name, ISBN/ISSN number, page range and total number of pages in a book will help to confirm permission more quickly.

Please remember that this process can take up to 8 weeks to complete and it is recommended that you contact Grenville with your request well in advance.
