Yes, you can scan and post copyrighted works as long as they fall within the guidelines listed in the George Brown's Fair Dealing policy.
A good alternative to scanning materials is linking to items in the library databases through the use of persistent links.
Linking to items in library databases using a persistent link is a copyright friendly, legal alternative to scanning material under copyright or sharing a PDF version with your students, which may require permission from the copyright holder. Please feel free to check the library resources, using “Search Everything” first, to determine whether or not the content (articles, ebooks, etc) is available through the GBC LLC http://www.georgebrown.ca/llc/ as this is the best way to make resources available for online courses.
For content not provided through the library databases, copyright clearance will need to be considered please check the fair dealing guidelines to see if the materials can be scanned and uploaded, with proper citations, to Brightspace or your course’s learning management system.
