Can I play videos in class?

Answer

Yes! Videos including DVD, VHS, and YouTube videos can be played in your class under the following conditions:

(1) the video is being shown for educational purposes, on campus, for an audience made up primarily of students;

(2) the video is not an infringing copy or you have no reasonable grounds to believe that it is an infringing copy;

(3) the video was legally obtained (from the library, a video store or a video rental store - not downloaded from the Pirate Bay or another illegal website) or in the case of YouTube, was uploaded by a legitmate source.

* Remember that all videos played in class must be captioned as per the Captioned Media & E-Text Policy. For more information on captioning please contact our Accessible Media Coordinator Anne Villahermosa at avillahe@georgebrown.ca
