Can I photocopy a chapter in a book and distribute to students?

Answer

Yes. You can photocopy and hand out copyrighted works as long as they fall within the guidelines listed in the College’s Fair Dealing policy. If you want to hand out material that is in excess of these guidelines you will have to seek permission.

For more information on how to seek permission please contact Copyright Services at copyrighthelp@georgebrown.ca.

If you want to provide multiple articles to students on a regular basis, for example, every year that you teach the course, and you know what articles you want to include in advance, you should consider creating a course pack.
