HOLDS

If a library book, DVD, or ipad that you want is checked out to someone else, you may place a hold on it. This ensures that you will be notified when the item becomes available.

Please note that you cannot place holds on Reserve items, journals, magazines, videos, DVDs, films, 1 day loan items, or 3 day loan items.

Holds may be placed through the Library catalogue as follows:

  • Search for and select the item you would like to place a hold on
  • If the item is checked out, click on Place Hold
  • Login to your Library Account. The login user ID is your student # (or staff number) followed by ‘@georgebrown.ca’.   (example: 100123456@georgebrown.ca). PIN is the same as your Stu-view password. 
  • Select your location and Place Hold

When your hold is ready for pick-up, you will be noticed by email. Please note email notices will be sent to your George Brown Student email account. Be sure to check it regularly. Items from the regular collection will be held for you at the Circulation/Help Desk for 7 days. *7 day loan items will be held for you at the Circulation/Help Desk for 3 days.
